6 Lip And Cheek Tint Hacks You Need To Know

Read here to learn how to get the most out of this everyday staple!
By the Beauty Beat Team

For a natural, long-wearing flush on the cheeks and lips, there's only one product to use, a.k.a. our beauty bag staple for the hot summer months, too: a lip and cheek tint. Here, we've listed down six easy hacks that will make them look extra ~*flawless*~ on your skin!

Apply it after moisturizer or liquid foundation.

Tints can get streaky or splotchy, especially if you've got visible redness, enlarged pores, or dryness on your cheeks. So ace your base first with a liquid or cream foundation—not powder, which can cake under your tint—as this gives you a smoother canvas for seamless blending.

Use lip balm as a primer.

Because lip tints are ultra long-lasting, they can be drying, especially the thin formulas. Don't forget to prep your pout with a clear or tinted lip balm—the richer, the better—to make sure your lips feel comfortable the whole day.

Dab, instead of swipe, to layer

Since this type of product dries quickly, dab the color onto your lips to seamlessly blend it together with the first layer to make it more opaque. Another tip? Be quick when applying it!

Add oil to change the formula.

While most lip and cheek tints are watery, there are those with a mousse-like formula, which can make it more difficult to put on. So if you're ever faced with that kind of texture, just add a tiny drop of face oil to thin it out. P.S. Be careful not to add too much oil or the product might not stay in place.

Create a gradient effect by applying on the center of your lips.

When the K-beauty bug hits you, just apply the tint on the center of your pout and blend it out for a gradient effect. For a long-lasting finish, put a powder lipstick on top to make sure it doesn't move.

Try using a brush to blend it more seamlessly on cheeks.

We got this trick from London-based makeup artist Nikki Wolf, and it lets you score a gorgeous, natural-looking flush with no streaks! Just apply a bit of tint on your blush brush, and quickly blend over the apples of your cheeks in circular motions. Her tip: You've got to work fast because once the tint is on, it lasts.
