Who needs a heavy makeup bag when you can whip up a full look with just a handful of products? One lipstick alone can give you a quick, fresh face that can put your usual 10-product routine to shame. Of course, you can still go back to your extra routine whenever you please—but for those times when you, well, don’t have the time, here are some makeup ideas and tips that only require a single lip color:

In our opinion, there’s no greater compliment than being told, “Ang fresh mo!” when you’re not wearing any makeup. Clearly, having healthy, glowing skin is better than a perfectly made up face, especially if you’re always piling on the cosmetics just to hide the “bad.”

That said, any beauty expert will tell you to prioritize a good skin care routine over an impressive makeup collection—moreso if you’re prone to breakouts or are constantly exposed to the sun or pollutants. Of course, genetics play a big role, as well as your daily habits. “When it comes to beauty, 60% is dependent on your genes and lifestyle, while 40% is aesthetic,” says Dr. Kaycee Reyes-Bacani, a dermatologist, health advocate, and wellness expert.

In short, to achieve great skin, it’s not enough that you pile on the most expensive skin care products or simply engage in healthy habits. It has to be a combination of both—plus, what your momma gave you! So what exactly should you do? Here, we teach you the 10 (not-so-secret) secrets of women with the best skin.

1. They stay hydrated.

ICYDK: Water is your friend, and proper hydration is crucial to skin’s health—aiding in cellular processes, helping flush out toxins, and basically keeping your body healthy, down to your skin cells. But it’s not enough that you chug eight glasses (or more) per day. Topical hydrators, a.k.a. your good ol’ moisturizers, night creams, and serums, are also effective in boosting skin’s moisture. 5. They use sunscreen every single day.

Truth time: The sun’s rays are your No.1 enemy when it comes to skin damage and premature aging, so daily SPF is actually a requirement, not a suggestion! For daily use, a sun shield with at least SPF 30 is okay. For prolonged sun exposure, though, it’s best to go for at least SPF 50—and make sure to re-apply every two hours.

6. They sleep well.

When you catch some Zzz’s, your body—including your skin—goes into repair mode, allowing your complexion to naturally heal and renew itself. So just imagine how much trouble you’re getting yourself into by skipping sleep! Aside from getting seven to eight hours of shuteye a day, you can also boost skin healing with a sleeping mask or overnight serum.

7. They include antioxidants in their routine.

Antioxidants protect your skin by neutralizing free radicals, a.k.a. unstable atoms that cause oxidative stress and damage, promoting better health and fighting premature skin aging. While you can get antioxidants naturally (i.e. from food and healthy sun exposure), you can also up your protection by making sure they’re part of your skin care routine. 8. They eat a rainbow.

9. They sweat it out.
